ABOUT US

The mission of Beth Shalom Ministries reveals the heartfelt passion of every our member to know Jesus Christ, see ourselves as He sees us, live as he intended according to His Word, and effectively share the same with others. The goal of our mission is that of coming to know Christ and the power of His resurrection. We deliver the gospel of Jesus Christ to all people, Jews and gentiles, develop them through training, and prepare them for their destiny in God. Beth Shalom Ministries is a Christ centered church which makes disciples, trains leaders and plants churches. Our mission’s statement is clear and simple, and we hope that you see it reflected in the music and the programs you hear. We promote a Christian worldview, present clear instructions in God’s word and praise the Lord with song and music. Beth Shalom Ministries strives for excellence for the sake of God’s glory in everything we do.

BETH SHALOM MINISTRIES LOGO

Why is there the Cross and the Star of David? Our Statement of Faith will help you to find the answer. We truly believe that God did not forsake the nation of Israel, and we believe that Israel will be the center of all major events in the last times we are approaching.

John 4:21-24
“Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
CORE VALUES

You cannot walk into a bank without being greeted by an armed security guard or two. These guys have been hired for two reasons. One, there is something valuable in the bank. Two, there are people committed to stealing that money. The guard's job is to make sure the money is not stolen. In the same way, Paul admonished Timothy to guard the good deposit...with the help of the Holy Spirit - 2 Timothy 1:13-14.

We call the good deposit God has invested in our ministry "core values." Although all biblical truth is important, our core values define who we are as a movement of churches and ministries. These core values must be guarded or they will be stolen. The following five core values are the building blocks of Beth Shalom Ministries. Whether we are planting a new church or organizing a music team, these core values describe how we build.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe in One, True and Living God, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Almighty, Omniscient, Everlasting and Sovereign Creator of the Universe. We believe that Holy Bible is true Word of God given by the inspiration of God, His revelation about Himself in the books of the Scriptures in Old and New Testaments. We believe that a human being was created in the image of God, but separated from God spiritually as a result of falling into sin. We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the only Son of God, Messiah of Israel and of whole world. We believe that He is a Word of God that became flesh. We believe that He was conceived by Holy Spirit. We believe that He lived a life completely free of sin. We believe that He was crucified, died and resurrected on the third day for us to be redeemed according to the Scriptures; that He ascended to the heavens and sat at the right hand of power of God the Father, where He intercedes for us. We believe in personal salvation of believers not according to the works, but through confession the sins and through grace according to the faith in sacrificial death of the Messiah and His Blood shed on the cross. We believe that the Holy Spirit abides in every born-again believer with the acceptance of the Messiah into one's heart. We believe in the water baptism by immersion as the commandment of Jesus for all believers to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe in the resurrection and eternal life for the believers and eternal damnation of the unbelievers. We believe that we are called and sent by Jesus to preach Gospel to all creatures, "first for the Jew, and then for the Gentile", and to be His witnesses around the world. We believe that return of the Jews to the Land of Israel is the fulfillment of the Bible prophecies and God's unconditional and irreversible covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We believe that God did not reject His chosen people (nation of Israel), but He will fulfill all promises about them; and that remainder of Israel will be saved when number of Gentiles becomes complete. We believe that the Body of Christ is being composed from the born-again Jews and Gentiles, and Jesus the Messiah is the Head. We believe that Jesus the Messiah will return in flesh to the earth in the power and the glory of the King of kings and Lord of lords to establish His messianic Kingdom in Jerusalem, Israel.

LORDSHIP

Because Jesus is "King of kings and Lord of lords" we believe that whole-hearted submission to God's will and his word is the starting point of the Christian faith and the foundation of all spiritual growth.

Colossians 2:6
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him
Romans 10:9
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved
DISCIPLESHIP

Because we are called to make disciples, our primary focus is on ministering to people not conducting meetings, administrating programs or building buildings.

Matthew 28:19-20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
EVANGELISM

Because God's heart is to reach the lost, we seek to build churches primarily through evangelism not transfer, through birth not adoption.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
LEADERSHIP

Because we are called to raise up spiritual leaders, we prioritize leadership training and deliberately create opportunities for young potential leaders to develop their gifts.

2 Timothy 2:2
And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.
FAMILY

Because the family is the foundation and validation of all ministry, we refuse to sacrifice our marriages and our children on the altars of temporal success. And, because we believe God has called us to be a spiritual family, we reject the idea of disposable relationships and choose to walk in lifelong covenant, love, respect and unity.

Psalm 127:1-3
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to[a] those he loves. Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.

OUR PASTORS

Senior Pastor Juri Popov

Juri Popov was born on December 10, 1961 in Sarata, a village in the suburbs of Odessa. His father was a pastor of a local Pentecostal church. From early childhood, the word of God formed the ideology and character of Juri. In 1985, in the city of Tallinn, he started his ministry in the “Church of the Full Gospel” as an elder of the church and the leader of the worship group. In 1989, Juri Popov founded a new church in the same city which was named “Church of the New Testament” and he served there as pastor over the span of five years. In 1994, Pastor Juri Popov arrived in the United States of America in the state of California upon the invitation of several Russian-speaking churches. Within the year, he preached in many Russian and American churches of different denominations. His services took place with the support of American pastors Robert Saunders and Ron Lewis. During this time, in one cramped apartment in Brooklyn, New York, Jewish believers in Jesus Christ gathered and prayed. They were once again without a church and they missed fellowship, sermons and worship. Juri Popov was greeted with hospitality there and he preached to this group for a period of time. God called him to be a pastor to them. Soon afterwards, in 1996, the church named “Beth Shalom”, a translation from Hebrew meaning “House of Peace”, was officially registered and began its weekly services. Through Juri Popov’s sermons and ministry of healing and deliverance hundreds of people have received salvation and have been able to obtain freedom in the Lord. At the present time, Pastor Juri Popov along with his wife and three children live in New Jersey.

Pastor Slava Samoylich

Slava Samoylich was born in 1970 in Ukraine. He was the tenth and last child born into a Christian family. During that time, the communist regime oppressed religious freedom in all possible ways, but that did not hinder his parents from teaching their children to love God and obey His word. After finishing high school, Slava began to attend “Christ to the World,” a Bible Institute in the Latvian city of Jelgava. In 1991, he completed the institute and began his ministry as an assistant pastor in the Russian city of Omsk. In September 1992, Slava Samoylich arrived in the United States of America as a permanent resident. Here in 1995, he completed a Bible College by the name of “World Harvest B.C.” in the state of Ohio and served as assistant to a pastor for a few years in the church “Source of Life” in the city of Springfield. In September 1999, Slava Samoylich moved to New York City, where he currently serves as Associate Pastor at “Beth Shalom” Church. He holds the responsibility of the spiritual development of the church members, preaches, and is the head of the Men’s Ministry in the church. He also meets with individuals in need in order to give them guidance and counsel. His wife, Irina, serves in the Worship Group. They have four children, two daughters and two sons.
